Relentless Old Music
An honest note on the music, the tools, and why any of this exists.
I want to be upfront about how this music gets made: I write and shape it with the help of AI tools. The songs are composed with Suno, the artwork with ChatGPT, and the lyrics, videos, and even this website with the help of Claude Code and custom tools it helped me write. I don't hide that, and I never will — you deserve to know what you're listening to.
But here's the part that matters to me: the heart is real. Every artist, every story, every lyric started as something I actually felt, wanted to say, or just thought would be funny — to me. The tools help me get it out of my head and into the world, but the intent — the message, the care, and even the lulz, the reason a song exists — is mine. I make songs that I want to listen to myself, and I do, constantly.
I know a lot of people have complicated feelings about AI and art. I do too. I don't think a tool makes something meaningless, any more than a synthesizer or a drum machine did. What makes a song matter is whether it means something to the person who made it and the person who hears it. I'm one person, making things I couldn't have made any other way, and sharing them honestly.
Some of these songs — especially the Softsteel ones — were written for people who are struggling, to say you're enough exactly as you are. If even one of them reaches someone who needed it, then all of this was worth it.
Thanks for being here. Take the music for what it is: made with new tools, but with an old-fashioned, entirely human reason behind it.
