Nowhere to Be

Alarm never rang, let the coffee run slow
Sun comin' up easy, warm and low
Dog on the porch and the radio on
Six days of runnin' and the runnin' is gone

All week there's a place I gotta be
Somebody, somewhere, always needin' me
But today the only callin's the wind in the tree
I've got nothin' to do and nowhere to be

My girl grabbed the tackle, I carried the rest
Down to the creek bank, the spot she likes best
She's got her daddy's patience, her mama's easy laugh
Been missin' these mornin's — now I'm gettin' 'em back
