Relentless Old Music

The heart behind Softsteel

Why the quiet songs mean the most to me.

Softsteel is the one closest to my chest. The whole point is tenderness — songs that stop and tell you that you're enough exactly as you are, that you're loved, that you were never a burden.

Some of these I wrote for the people closest to me — these tools finally let me get my words and feelings out, in a way I never could have before.

They're written for anyone who's struggling, and a couple carry a crisis line in the description on purpose — because if a song can be a hand on the shoulder for someone who needs it, that's the most a song can do.

More than anything, my heart is for people. If you're having a hard time right now — especially with your mental health — please hear me: you are not alone. You are loved, you are cared for, and you matter, exactly as you are. That isn't a lyric or a tagline; it's the whole reason Softsteel exists.

That goes especially for the LGBTQ+ community, and for anyone from a marginalized group who's ever been made to feel like less. Every person is equal, every person is worthy, and every person deserves love and help — no exceptions and no conditions. If the world hasn't shown you that yet, I hope these songs can.

If one of these songs finds you at the right moment and makes you feel even a little less alone, then it did exactly what I made it to do.
